  • Who are sellers?

    Sellers on Tresle can be anyone looking for an efficient and cost-effective way to sell a private business. There are two overarching groups of sellers: business owners & business brokers. Business owners can list their business for sale, track their results, access professional assistance, engage in conversations, and save money on the sale of their business.

    Business brokers can use Tresle as a tool to get more leads; Tresle allows brokers to build a buyer list, send and receive digital documents, engage in negotiations with buyers, and ultimately close more deals.

  • What are the advantages to listing businesses with Tresle?

    Tresle makes selling a business manageable. People selling a business no longer need to be spammed by unwanted buyers or pay high fees to sell a business. Selling with Tresle allows you to take control over confidentiality, whom you contact, forming deal terms, and ultimately the sale of the business.

  • How do I submit a listing?
    To submit a business listing:
    1. Create an account with Tresle
    2. Click ‘Sell’ on portal header and select ‘Create Listing’
    3. If you have yet to complete your profile, you will be prompted to do so
    4. Fill out the fields for business
    5. Click ‘Submit’
  • What is the listing approval process?
    Once a listing is submitted, our team will review it internally to ensure it is appropriate for our platform. There are various reasons why we will not approve a given listing- for example: certain businesses are legal but do not align with our company values at Tresle. The approval process can take up to two (2) business days. Listings will be converted to title case by our editors.
  • What is a ‘draft’ listing?
    A draft listing is a listing that has been started but has yet to be submitted for approval and is therefore not live on the platform (i.e. is only visible to you). Drafts are saved under the 'Sell' section of the portal. To convert a draft into a listing on Tresle, click 'Continue creating my listing'. From here, fill in any potentially missing information and click 'Submit Listing'.
  • How much does it cost to sell on Tresle?

    There are no upfront fees and each account will be based on success. Meaning, only when the business sells does Tresle charge a fee.

    Sellers pay a scale success fee ranging from 5-7% after closing. Self-listed business sellers pay a scale ranging from 5-7% after closing.

    Business brokers (license number required) are encouraged to contact us for pricing.

  • Where can I get help with selling my business?

    Unlike others in our field that simply act as a classified ad, Tresle aims to offer our customers as much support as possible. We work closely with our vetted, certified broker-partners that provide vast experience in deal-making across a wide array of industries. Certain deals (generally larger by nature) may be better suited to work with our broker-partners to provide a more personal, hands-on approach. Please contact us for more information.

  • Can anyone see my business listing on Tresle?
    Anyone with a Tresle account can see every business listing on the platform. However, confidentiality and anonymity are paramount- your company's name and identity will remain private.
  • Can I sell my business that is not profitable?
    Yes, a business is not required to be profitable to be listed for sale. However, in most cases, the value and corresponding sale price will be higher if the business is profitable.
  • Are there fake buyer accounts?
    Tresle prides itself on ensuring we provide a safe, trustworthy environment for everyone involved. The platform has email and text message verification for prospective buyers. However, we still advise everyone to take adequate precautions when meeting people online.
  • What is a success fee?
    A success fee is Tresle’s fee on a successful sale. The fee is drawn as a portion of the business selling price and is charged to the seller upon the sale of their business listing. The payment terms require the success fee to be paid within two (2) business days of the closing date. Please see our Terms of Service for more information.
  • How is the success fee charged?
    Tresle is notified upon the completion of the sale. From there, an invoice is sent out to the seller for which they have two (2) business days to pay the balance. A penalty of 1.5% per month will apply if payment is late.
  • Can I email or fax Tresle my ad?
    Our signup process and profile setup is very straightforward and intuitive. However, if for any reason you need help setting up your profile, you can use our contact form , email us at, , or call us at 1-888-576-9226 and our team would be more than happy to assist you.
  • How can I further protect my privacy and my business’s confidentiality?

    You should treat every person you meet on Tresle as if you just met them on the street. By this we mean that you shouldn’t disclose any sensitive information about yourself or the business prior to signing a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).

    Sending out an NDA to the prospective buyer(s) you match with is the best way to protect your privacy and your business’s confidentiality. An NDA protects you against anyone using your company’s information on pricing, strategy, employee data, projections, etc., to their benefit.

    By signing an NDA, the seller has some level of comfort that if the opposing party violates the agreement, the seller is entitled to seek relief for lost profits or for any potential harm suffered by the business.   • How do I update my business listing?
    To update a business listing:
    1. Log in to your account
    2. Click ‘Sell’ on the portal header
    3. Click ‘Edit’ on the listing you are trying to change.
    4. Update business listing
    5. Click save
    Note: If you have an approved listing and want to change the ‘Header’ or the ‘Description’, these changes will be sent to be approved by the Tresle team.
  • Can I use Tresle if I am a business broker?

    Yes, we have accounts designed specifically for business brokers to get the most for their listings. Brokers are able to list as many businesses as they want, and as a result, receive special bulk pricing.

    Upon creating a listing, you will be asked whether you are a business broker. If so, you will be required to enter your principal state of operation as well as your license number.
